Military rain gear
Military Rain Gear consists of rain suits and poncho's. Ponchos are great in a pinch but my experience has been that you sweat while inside them. When I was at ROTC summer camp 1982 (a long time ago) it was always a major military decision for our organization to decide to let us put on our ponchos. You were usally soaked by the time you got it on but at least they were warm.
The other rain gear choice is a rain suit which is a rain top and bottom. The materials that rain suits are made from varies. PVC and Rubber tend be heavies both have a fabric backing. Nylon backed pvc is lighter. Also of these types tend to break down quicker then the new waterproof breathable rain gear that is part of the ecwcs system
